  15.                             Novell Netware and Drive Type 47

  18. Problem:       Certain versions of Novell Netware have problems using user-
  19.            defined drive type 47.
  20.  
  21. Solution:      For Netware 2.12, 2.15, 2.2
  22.  
  23.                These versions of Novell Netware will not accept a pointer to a
  24.            drive parameter table that is below C800:0000.  When drive type
  25.            47 is selected, the data is copied into low DOS memory.  If BIOS
  26.            Shadow is enabled, the data will be copied back into Shadow
  27.                RAM (which is in the F000:0000 segment).

  29.                In order to use drive type 47, ROM BIOS Shadow must be enabled.
  30.            Not all chip sets and motherboards have this option.  The BIOS 
  31.            date should also be 4/9/90 or later.  If Shadow is not 
  32.            available, the only other option is to have a custom drive table
  33.            burned for the BIOS.  This can be done by Upgrades Etc. 
  34.            (800-628-8620) or Washburn & Co. (716-248-3627).  If the 
  35.            motherboard has cache, it will be necessary to contact the
  36.                motherboard manufacturer.

  40.                        For Netware 3.00, 3.10, 3.11

  42.                These versions of Novell Netware do not have the limitation of 
  43.            the drive parameter table being below C000:0000.  However, they
  44.            are sensitive to the format of the address pointer.  In some 
  45.            BIOSes this address is not in a format that Novell will accept.

  47.                If ROM BIOS Shadow is enabled, you can run the program 
  48.            USERNOV.COM which will change the format of the address pointer.
  49.            This program can be downloaded from the AMI BBS (404-246-5825). 
  50.            This program will not have any effect is the ROM BIOS Shadow is
  51.            not enabled, nor will it affect Novel Netware versions 2.12, 
  52.            2.15, and 2.2.
